kindergarten craft

This is a fun Kindergarten craft (that was inspired by my daughters kindergarten teacher, Thank you!).  Creating fun crafts around a letter help reinforce the letter and the letter sound.  Practice writing the letter together and saying the letter and the words that start with it as you create this fun craft.

Supplies:

  • Brown Paper bag
  • Felt
  • Marker
  • White paper
  • Scissors

Steps:

  1. Draw the shape of the kittens face, and cut it out
  2. Draw eyes, nose and mouth on the kittens face
  3. Draw a mitten shape on felt and cut out
  4. Use first mitten as guide and trace second mitten, cut out
  5. Glue face and mittens to bag
  6. Color in face and write the words “K is for Kitten”
  7. Name your kitten, think of some fun K names!

Enjoy!!

Fun Activities for Toddlers – Shaving Creme Letter Activity

Kids Shaving Creme Activity

Here is another of my Fun Activities for Toddlers !  This shaving creme craft will bring lots of joy, giggles and fun!!  My kids love doing this!!  It’s messy-but a fun and easy activity !  It can be done with kids old enough that they won’t eat it!  You know your child and if they will put it in their mouth.  My kids by 2 were fine with this type of activity.  This activity is really good for kids 2-7 (some kids older would like it too!).

Kids love to get their hands messy and feel fun textures!!  They also learn by doing things in different types of mediums!! This is a fun activity that let’s kids practice their letters while enjoying getting to play in shaving creme!!

Letter Sound Identification Craft

craft collage

Reinforcing letters and the sounds they make is very important for children.  The more you do this in a variety of fun ways the better.  This craft activity is really fun and your child won’t even know they are learning!  I did this with my kids and they had so much fun they came up with about 6 collages each!!  They just wanted to keep going!!  They love to cut and glue!!  We did the letter D and picked all things in magazines that started with letter D.  Then we cut them out and glued them on construction paper to make a D collage.

Supplies

  • Construction paper
  • Glue
  • Old Magazines
  • Scissors
  • Markers (optional) You can put the letter at the top of the page with a marker

Steps

  1. Go through old magazines, pick a letter to focus on with your child.  Talk about the sound(s) it makes.  In this example I used D.  Have your child name the objects he or she sees and ask if that starts with a D.  Child “thats a cat” Caregiver “yes it is! does thats start with a duh sound-saying the sound the letter makes instead of the letter itself.  Continue like this until you find enough D objects (how ever many you want).
  2. Then Cut out each object.  If your child is old enough they can cut it out
  3. Take all the objects and let your child use a glue stick to glue them on the construction paper.
  4. You can take a marker and right the letter on the paper to reinforce what the letter looks like
  5. You can also look for the letter in words and cut those out and paste them on the page

Lenny the Lion Craft

L is for Lion

When kids begin to learn their letters it is important to introduce them to the letters and sounds in as many ways as you can.  One way is to tell them the letter and talk about words that start with that.  Then to reinforce it you can make something that you name with that letter.  In this example it is Lenny the Lion.  Before starting the craft I suggest playing a game to find or think of objects or words that start with the letter L.

Supplies

  • White circle paper plate
  • Yellow Yarn
  • Brown Construction Paper
  • Green Construction paper
  • Black Marker
  • Googly eyes
  • Glue
  • Orange or yellow pipecleaners (2)
  • Stapler
  • Scissors

Steps to Make Lenny the Lion

  1. Cut out from brown construction paper-two ears and a circle nose
  2. Glue ears on plate
  3. Cut yarn (If your child is a little older they can help cut the yarn)
  4. Glue yarn on edge of plate all around the circle
  5. Draw black circles for eyes and a mouth
  6. Glue Googly Eyes on black circles
  7. Cut Pipe Cleaners in half and glue next to nose
  8. Staple or Glue a cut out letter L from Green Construction Paper

Say hello to “Lenny the Lion” who Like Lollipops and Roaring Loud!!
