Want to have a Halloween accessory that would surely add color and fun in this Trick or Treat season? Let the kids go from neighbor to neighbor getting their candy treats or doing their creepy tricks while carrying an umbrella jazzed up for the Halloween occasion.
All you will need is an old umbrella but also make sure that it is still in good condition. Once this activity is done, that umbrella you kept in the store room to gather dust will be transformed into a creepy Halloween accessory that you can use for your child’s trick or treat activities.
Supplies:
- Old umbrella
- Black and white t-shirt paint (or any paint)
- White yarn
- Plastic spiders (you can buy these in toy section of groceries or department stores)
- Glue
Steps:
- Open your old umbrella. Apply black paint all over it to hide the prints or jolly faded colors. The kids can enjoy helping a lot in this painting activity. Then apply white paint on the umbrella handle.
- Let the paint dry for a while. This may take 2 to three hours, depending on the thickness of the coating and the type of paint that you bought. It is advisable to use a water-based paint and non-lead type of paint.
- After the paint has dried, draw two big ovals using the white paint on the umbrella. Just coat it thinly and let it dry for about an hour or so.
- Draw a circle using the black paint inside the white ovals to form the eyes of the umbrella.
- Get the yarn and cut it into the same length, about 6 inches.
- Glue the plastic spiders on one end of the yarn. Let it dry,
- After the spiders are now firmly attached on the yarns, get one yarn and tie one end to the umbrella’s pointed edges. Do this on every pointed edge of the umbrella.
Now, you are ready to use your spooky Halloween umbrella. With big eyes and dangling spiders, this will surely be the umbrella that will do the trick and treat this Halloween season.

Who said ghosts are only supposed to be spooky? They could be cool and cute.
This Halloween, kids can enjoy making cute ghost decors that they can hang on the door or on walls. This is something that they can display especially during the season of Trick or Treat.
Supplies:
- Paper plates
- Black and white construction paper
- Large wiggly eyes (optional)
- White yarn
- Crepe paper
- Glue
- Tape
- Black markers
- Scissors
- Shape patterns for arms, eyes, and mouth (Make the patterns in advance or together with your kids)
How to make it:
- First, make the eyes of the ghost by cutting two large oval patterns and then two smaller oval patterns out of the construction paper.
- Glue the white ovals to the black ones. To make it look like eyes, draw a small black circle on the white ovals. If you have large wiggly eyes, you can skip this step.
- Trace the arm pattern on the white construction paper and make two arms. Make a mouth shape using the black construction paper.
- Attach the arms at the back portion of the paper plate by gluing it.
- Glue the custom made eyes or the large wiggly eyes and the mouth to the paper plate. You can also let the kids draw the face themselves.
- You can also draw eye brows over the eyes.
- Cut the crepe paper into long strips and attach them at the back of the paper plate.
- Get a short piece of yarn (about six inches), and attach the ends of the yarn to the back of the paper plate to serve as the hanger.
- Mount the cute ghost décor on doors or wall of your home.
Enjoy your Halloween celebration with your kids through this craft!

This is a fun activity for kids to make for a Fathers day Craft for their dad. My kids loved making each member of their family and deciding where it should be placed on the mobile. Dad’s will love being able to have their own special family picture to display.
Supplies:
- Hanger
- Index cards
- Magic Markers or Crayons
- Rubber bands
- Paper Clips
- Hole Puncher
Steps:
- Cut out enough squares or rectangles from index cards for each member of your family (we included our pets)
- Have your child draw a family member on each square/rectangle
- Put a hole punch in the top of each card
- Help your child write the name of each person on the card
- Use the paper clip and loop it through the hole on the card
- Loop the other side of the clip through the rubber band and then put a paper clip on the other end.
- Put the paper clip on the hanger
- Repeat for each card
- You can do this in a variety of ways, making different lengths.
- If you would like to decorate the hanger first, you can get some ribbon and wrap around the hanger for a more decorative look.
You can also use this activity as an opportunity to talk to your child about the concept of balance and how moving the various pictures changes the balance of the mobile.
Enjoy!!

- Pipe cleaners
- Toilet paper roll
- Ribbon
- Decorative foam or stickers
- Stapler
- Scissors
- glue
Steps:
- Fold crepe paper squares into a triangle and then fold again into a smaller triangle.
- Twist the pipe cleaner around the bottom of the flower/triangle
- Twist bottom of pipe cleaner to make leaves
- Make 4-6 Flowers
- Staple bottom of Toilet paper roll together to make vase
- Decorate toilet paper roll vase with ribbon and stickers
- Place flowers in vase
Enjoy!
