Now that Halloween is over, and you have those pumpkins carved, you might find you have some extra pumpkin seeds laying around. This craft is a great activity to use those seeds and create a kindergarten craft that helps your child learn their letter P. It reinforces the sound and the visualization of the letter as they work on this craft. As you work with your child, say the letter p, point out all the words that start with P: Pumpkin, pumpkin seeds. Have them trace the p with their finger once it is complete to feel it kinesthetically.
Supplies:
- Pumpkin Seeds
- Construction paper
- Glue
- Marker
- Scissors
Steps:
- Trace the outline of the pumpkin on the construction paper and cut it out
- Draw a P on the Pumpkin
- Help your child put glue over the p and place the pumpkin seeds on the pumkin
- Let it dry
Enjoy!

Ok-I know Halloween is over! But, I had to share one more Halloween Craft. It’s so simple, and you can do it with all those pumpkins you might still have! We bought these small pumpkins for 50 cents each. We decorated them with markers, but have also used paint. It’s fun and simple!

How was your halloween? My kids had so much fun! It was a beautiful warm night here. In light of the flu going around we had all the kids wear gloves, in hopes that it might minimize their contact with those that have or might be getting the flu. I wish we didn’t have to worry about that, but better to be safe then sorry. It was a lot of fun anyway!! Don’t forget to save the costumes for the dress up box!! What did your kids wear for Halloween? How was the day? Did you take any precautions due to the swine flu?

This is another fun and simple letter craft in the Toddler Crafts Letter Craft series! This one is for the letter P and just in time for Halloween too! When creating the craft emphasize with your child the letter sound for P as you say Pumpkin and point it out on the craft. You can add glue to the letter P and put on some glitter which then reinforces the shape of the letter. It is helpful for children to run their finger over the texture of a letter, and the glitter helps facilitate that.
Supplies:
- Black, Orange and green construction paper
- Marker
- Scissors
- Glue
- Glitter (optional)

Steps:
- Draw pumpkin shape on orange paper
- Cut out pumpkin
- Draw stem on green paper
- Cut out stem
- Glue pumpkin and stem on black paper
- Write P is for Pumpkin with marker on pumpkin
- Put glue over P and shake glitter on it.
Have fun!!
