The next time you’re tempted to turn on the TV to entertain your toddler, why not try something different? A fun way to spend time together is to play games for toddlers ages 3-6, actually the toddler age really ends at around 2 or 3. So these are ideas are for toddlers-grade school. Here are a few old standbys to get you thinking:
Your two to three year old will love to make animal sounds when you ask, “What does a cat say?” or “What does a bird say?” Of course, you can ask, “What says, “Meow”” or “What says, “Cluck, cluck”” as a variation of the game, as well.
One of the really fun games for toddlers ages 3-6 is to put together a tray of things from the kitchen that all have different smells. Put things like ketchup, apple juice, vanilla, onion, cinnamon, a flower, mustard, etc. into containers then have them close their eyes, sniff and guess what it is. Or how about a grab bag? Put a dozen or so items like a comb, brush, button, sock, a toy -things that they will have to feel to guess what they are.
Your four to five year olds love to recognize their ABCs in association with things that are around them. So ask them to look for things that start with the “a” sound, “b” sound and so on. You can play versions of “I spy,” too. Say, “I spy something red and round.” Or “I spy something that is big and starts with the “g” sound.”
There are so many fun and simple games for Children and Toddlers ages 3-6 that you can spend time doing with your child. It just takes a bit of imagination on your part!

I found these organic letter cookies and thought it would make a lot of fun games learning the alphabet and letter sounds. Here are a few ideas to go with them. http://www.teaching-tiny-tots.com/toddler-activities-organic-letters.html
