This is the coolest craft that is perfect for a child in Kindergarten or first grade. You can adjust it to be for younger children, but you will have to assist them with the toothpicks.
Supplies:
- Paper towel roll
- Paint
- Toothpicks
- Glue
- Scissors
- Dixie cups
- Beans
Steps:
- Paint the paper towel roll, allow to dry
- Carefully poke toothpicks along the seam of the paper roll about every inch apart, do this through out the paper roll
- Cut 2 dixie cups so only about half an inch of the side of the cups is left and the bottom.
- Glue into one side of the paper towel roll.
- Place about 1/2 a cup of dried beans in the paper towel roll, and glue the other dixie cup on the open side.
- Turn back and forth and hear the rain!
Enjoy!!

this is fantastic, I have a 5 year old daughter who is starting kindergarten this year and she is very creative we normally go to Michaels and buy kits and the very last thing we did was build a boat from wood pieces where you put it together and paint it she loved it. I wish I could add a photo here.
I’m enjoying your site, very creative ideas! Please let me know if you are ever interested in guest authoring a post about crafts.
