I always love to create a craft and tie it in to a book!  My daughter actually brought this craft home from school one day and inspired me to pull out our copy of The Mitten by Jan Brett and read it with her.  The Mitten is a great story (You may have seen some of Jan Brett’s other stories like The Hat which is also great).   The story is about a little boy Nikki who convinces his Baba (grandmother) to make him white mittens.  She is hesitant because she is worried he will lose his mitten in the snow.  His first day out with it sure enough he loses it.  The story details the adventures of the mitten and how it ends up back with him.

I thought I would share this craft which is so simple and ties in so nicely with the story.

Supplies

• Construction paper
• Scissors
• Paint

Steps

1. Cut out Mitten Shape
2. Paint (whatever color your child likes)
3. Add fun things like glitter, foam pieces etc. (optional)
