H is for Hat Craft

Toddler Crafts Letter Craft series continues!!  Today is the letter H day.  This is a really simple craft that is fun to create.  When creating a letter craft a fun idea is to make it the letter of the day!  Point out all things that start with that letter through out the day.  You can also make the letter and keep it in the car and as you go through your day point it out and ask, what letter is that?  If you see a hat or house etc you can point out “look at that house, house starts with the letter H!  Do you here the H sound?”  This will reinforce the letter as you do this.

Supplies:

  • Green construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Marker
  • Fluffy ball
  • Glitter
  • Glue

P is for Pumpkin – Letter Craft

P is for Pumpkin Craft

This is another fun and simple letter craft in the Toddler Crafts Letter Craft series!  This one is for the letter P and just in time for Halloween too!  When creating the craft emphasize with your child the letter sound for P as you say Pumpkin and point it out on the craft.  You can add glue to the letter P and put on some glitter which then reinforces the shape of the letter.  It is helpful for children to run their finger over the texture of a letter, and the glitter helps facilitate that.

Supplies:

  • Black, Orange and green construction paper
  • Marker
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Glitter (optional)

Toddler Crafts Letter J Craft

Letter J Craft

Reinforcing Letters with a craft is very effective for helping kids learn their letters.  This craft focuses on the letter J, with each Jewel they put on the crown, ask them what it is,  and what the J sound is in the word Jewel.  If they don’t know, explain what the letter sound is in the word Jewel and help them remember with each Jewel they place on the crown.

Supplies:

  • Construction Paper
  • Marker
  • Glue
  • Scissor
  • Jewels

craft

Steps:

  1. Draw Crown outline
  2. Cut out Crown
  3. Glue Jewels on crown
  4. Right the letter J then is for Jewel below it.
  5. Put Glue on J and add glitter on it.  (optional)

Having the texture on the J is helpful since kids can feel it and it reinforces the shape of the letter.  Have your child help you read the sentance once it is written.

Preschool Educational Activities – Letter S Spider Craft

Preschool Educational Activities

Spider Craft

To teach children their letters it is important to introduce the letters in a variety of ways.  One fun way is to make a craft that starts with the “letter of the day”.  Then incorporate as many items that start with that letter.  This letter activity craft is a great example of that.  You could even read a book before like the “itsy bitsy spider” and point out the S’s as you read.  In this activity we concentrate on the letter S.  We called this spider, Salty the Spider.  We made his S out of salt (the s again ) and wrote the word spider on him for another opportunity to reinforce the letter and it’s sound.

Supplies:

  • Construction paper
  • Pencil or Pen
  • Scissors
  • Black Marker
  • Glue
  • Salt
