Christmas-themed Alphabet Magnetic Stick-Ons

If you have little kids at home, you might have noticed that they usually have this inclination to play with your refrigerator stick-ons. Sometimes, when we use these magnetic stickers to pin our bills and other important documents on the fridge, we would be surprised that our notes and reminders are scattered on the floor.  The kids have played with your ref stick-ons and they love playing with it.

To perhaps avoid this inconvenience, why not involve your kids into making their own refrigerator stick-ons. And because December is already here, lets have the kids create Christmas-themed alphabet magnetic stickers.

Supplies:

  • Small magnets
  • Black paper board
  • Colored paper board (green, yellow, red)
  • Black marker
  • Glue
  • Glitter glue
  • Puncher

Steps:

  1. Cut the colored paper boards into 2×2 inches square tiles. Green, yellow, and red are the colors of Christmas, and they are usually prevalent at this time of the year. This will establish the Christmas theme of the alphabet magnetic stickers. Make 26 pieces.
  2. Cut the the black paperboard into 2.5×2.5 inches square tiles. Create 26 pieces.
  3. Glue one colored paperboards over a black paperboard. Do the same with the remaining pieces.
  4. Write the letters of the alphabet on the paper tiles.
  5. Punch some holes on the colored papers to create small circles. Put yellow and green circles on the red tiles, red and green on the yellow ones, and yellow and red on the green ones. Apply glitter glue on the center of the circles.
  6. Glue the small magnets at the back of the stick-ons. Let them dry.

You now have your Christmas-themed alphabet magnetic stick-ons!  Happy Holidays!

Letter Craft – P is for Pumpkin

Letter Craft

Now that Halloween is over, and you have those pumpkins carved, you might find you have some extra pumpkin seeds laying around.  This craft is a great activity to use those seeds and create a kindergarten craft that helps your child learn their letter P.  It reinforces the sound and the visualization of the letter as they work on this craft.  As you work with your child, say the letter p, point out all the words that start with P: Pumpkin, pumpkin seeds.  Have them trace the p with their finger once it is complete to feel it kinesthetically.

Supplies:

  • Pumpkin Seeds
  • Construction paper
  • Glue
  • Marker
  • Scissors

Steps:

  1. Trace the outline of the pumpkin on the construction paper and cut it out
  2. Draw a P on the Pumpkin
  3. Help your child put glue over the p and place the pumpkin seeds on the pumkin
  4. Let it dry

Enjoy!

Santa Styrofoam ornaments

Christmas Bauble With Santa On!

The Christmas season is a time when we rummage the malls for new stuff or our house for some old recyclable things that we can still use. Besides receiving gifts, kids enjoy setting up and helping in the Christmas tree decoration.

Putting little Santa heads under the tree is one cute way of decorating the tree this Yuletide season.

Supplies:

  • Styrofoam balls (You can buy Styrofoam balls of different sizes)
  • Red felt paper
  • Wiggly eyes
  • Black and red (or pink) marker
  • Cotton
  • Scissors
  • Super Glue
  • Triangle pattern (the bigger the Styrofoam balls, the larger the triangle shape)

Steps:

  1. Depending on the size of the Styrofoam ball, choose the right pattern size. Trace the triangle on the felt paper and cut it out.
  2. Fold the triangle from side to side to form a cone. Put a fluff of cotton on top of the cone.
  3. Glue the Santa hat on the Styrofoam ball. Put some fluffs of cotton around the base of the Santa hat.
  4. Glue the wiggly eyes on the ball to form part of the face.
  5. Using the marker, draw a smiling mouth on the Santa ball.
  6. Put some fluffs of cotton around the mouth to form Santa’s beard.
  7. Put some pink marks on the cheeks of the Santa ball.
  8. Make as many Santa balls as you want. Arrange them carefully under your Christmas tree.

The Santa Styrofoam Balls are very easy to make. You can even create a family of Santa balls to represent each member of the family – from grandma to the little baby. You can also adorn the balls with accessories to give it a personal touch.
