Hi, Welcome back to Toddler Craft. Please subscribe to my Toddler Craft newsletter. Sign up to the left. It's full of more fun activities, parenting information and crafts! Thanks for visiting!

As an educator, Stay at home Mom, and daycare provider I have seen first hand how beneficial Crafts for Toddlers and Preschoolers can be. It is so much fun for them and they learn while doing it. I have come up with many of my own crafts and utilized some great resources for new ideas when I needed them. I decided it would be fun to share my crafts and resources with other mom’s, dad’s, caretakers, and daycare providers. At ToddlerCraft.net you will find many project ideas & activities for you and your child. I will be continually adding new ideas so check back often!!

Painting

Painting is an activity that kids love!! Keep these things handy for a great activity at any time!

  • Washable Paint – My Favorite is by Rich Art- Called Clean Colors -I have a variety of colors   for endless creativity!
  • Finger Paints
  • Sponges for “stamping” Paint-heart shapes, colors, extra legos, rocks objects that can be  painted or used for “stamping”
  • Variety of brushes
  • Sponge Rollers
  • Sponge Paint brushes
  • LOTS of Paper
  • Easel with roll of paper (not necessary-but convenient)
  • Tupperware lids- I love to use this to give the kids a few colors to use at the same time.  I squirt a little of each of 3 colors they would like to use.  I only recommend this for kids who won’t take it and throw it though! If not see next item.
  • Spill Proof Paint Containers-These are great- they offer a spot for kids to dip their paint   brush-but don’t allow the paint to get spilled everywhere
  • Plastic table cloth to put on counter or table
  • Water proof sheet -to put under chair
  • Smock to cover clothes
  • Dot paints- I use Alex- Washable Jumbo Dots -n-Dashes- Sponge Tip Painter
  • Container to keep all supplies in one place!!   I use a big tubberware type box with a lid.
  • Wood cut outs to paint

Coloring/Drawing

Drawing is a great activity for children.  Not only is it creative and fun but helps them develop their fine motor skills.  Which is very important for when they are learning to write.  Here are some supplies I recommend to keep handy for drawing activities.

  • Paper-Plain, Colored, and as they get older paper that has a space for drawing up top and lines below for descriptions.
  • Crayons-thin & thick
  • Colored Pencils
  • Markers (short stubby ones are great!)
  • Coloring books, dot to dot books
  • Stencils
