Mother’s Day brings to mind a tray of soggy eggs, slightly blackened toast and some wilted flowers carried by the sweetest little cherub(s) in the world.  While they mean well, the breakfast in bed scenario often turns into a fiasco when Mom has to spend her special day cleaning up the mess.

Other than the traditional breakfast in bed, there are walks in the park, snuggling on the couch watching a favorite movie.  Or how about making cookies or cupcakes together? Whatever the plan is in your household, you and your child need to celebrate this special day that honors you.

Maybe your children aren’t old enough to understand what it means.  Well, now is the time to “train” them by honoring your mom and mother in-law.  Planning a special meal with your child(ren) and then inviting the moms over will show your children how to plan a celebration.

If your mom isn’t close enough to treat to a nice meal, make sure to at least send a card or flowers letting her know just how much you appreciate her. Let your children participate in honoring grandma, too.

Mother’s Day activities for moms of toddler-aged children are really more about the children being proud of how good they made Mommy feel. They can paint or draw a picture, go out with Dad and pick wildflowers to place in a vase for you, or craft a special frame to put a sweet picture of them to present for you for Mother’s Day.
