Here is another of my Fun Activities for Toddlers ! This shaving creme craft will bring lots of joy, giggles and fun!! My kids love doing this!! It’s messy-but a fun and easy activity ! It can be done with kids old enough that they won’t eat it! You know your child and if they will put it in their mouth. My kids by 2 were fine with this type of activity. This activity is really good for kids 2-7 (some kids older would like it too!).
Kids love to get their hands messy and feel fun textures!! They also learn by doing things in different types of mediums!! This is a fun activity that let’s kids practice their letters while enjoying getting to play in shaving creme!!
Supplies:
- Some type of board, cardboard, chalkboard, white board (plastic plate works too!)
- Shaving Creme
- Smock, Apron
- Wipes or paper towels
Steps:
- Put Smock or Apron on your child
- Put a little bit of shaving creme on your board
- Let your child spread it all out- They will love this!!
- Show them how they can draw a letter in it with their pointer finger
- Then erase it by wiping your hand over it
- Let them try
- They can do letters or draw shapes what ever you want
- Be there to show them how to draw a letter or shape and they can try it next. You can also help move their hand as they get the feel for it.
Depending on the age of your child you can help them write words, letters, shapes. They can make pictures or whatever they want. At the end you can even have them help you clean up the boards in the sink. Have fun!! Keep on the look out for more fun activities for toddlers!!

What a super idea! It looks like so much fun, I’m sure my toddler and I will enjoy this messy…and nice smelling, activity!

Wow, you sure are one brave woman, aren’t you? Sometimes I’ve let them do this in the bathtub but I’d be scared to let my kids do the whole shaving cream thing anywhere else. As I type this, they are playing with Moon Sand and it’s all over the kitchen floor. I wish I wasn’t such a Type A mom!
Petra- It really was fun!! The joy on their faces was totally worth the clean up!!
Helene-Brave? Maybe Crazy – LOL- Actually it wasn’t bad- but I didn’t let them leave the counter until I wiped them down. Used ALOT of papertowels!! With twins-I bet you HAVE to be type A or things would get out of control!!
I was searching for toddler crafts and came upon this one. I just wanted to share with you a twist on this craft! I babysit 3 toddlers and have 2 of my own, so we are always looking for fun things to do. I take the children to our community toddler “play time” called goo crew, and we did something similar to this. For St. Patricks day we mixed shaving cream (not gel), elmers glue and a tiny bit of green food coloring. We let the kids paint this mixture onto paper with spoons and it then set it out to dry. It makes a really cool 3D foam type painting and doesn’t come off once it is dry! They loved it, and even I, as an adult, was pretty amazed by it lol.
Thanks for this information!!
I’ve done this with my daughter and so has her therapist. Try and get a shaving cream with the least scent possible, so your toddler doesn’t smell like a giglo for several hours after the activity

If you have children under 2 years of age you can try whip cream and they can still enjoy playing with something white like the others. I have one that is 17 months, a 2 year old and 4 year old. I let the older children play with the shaving cream and put the younger one in the high chair with some whip cream. He had a blast as well as the other two, I think he even liked to eat it, which with whipped cream I did not have to worry about watching me too close.
i will be trying this with my grandson’s this weekend and I am going to use our outside table for the shaving cream so that i can hose it away. should be a great time.
Hey everyone, My kids love to get their hands
messy. Also they can get together and make
a batch of cookies and more.
