I got an emulator on the internet for older games. My 3 year old daughter was delighted with games like Sonic and Super Mario. I think this is a form of education and learning for her, but do not let her play more than 40 minutes per day.

We really loved leapster and got much more use out of it than we did the v-smile system. Our child barely even played with it.

Leapster has done a great job of diversifying to the point that you can get everything from fridge magnets to baby dolls that teach colors, letters and numbers.

Once other thing she really enjoyed as a toddler are the games I have reviewed on my blog linked above.

We have the leapsters and the kids used to love them! We haven't played them for a while...batteries died and we decided to put them away for a while. I agree about the computer games. The simpler, the better. I have found that I can sit my kids down in front of the computer, and each of them gets 30 minutes to play a game. They all three sit together, watching and helping and it is 1 1/2 hours of fun for them. And I can get something done, too! kristen@nosmallthing’s last blog post..Mind-numbing Nothingness
